1. Differences in writing

Both the IELTS and IGCSE English exams include the requirement to write an argumentative essay, but the IGCSE further requires students to complete summary writing and letter writing。In abstract writing, students need to accurately summarize the content of the article in their own words, and directly copying the original text is not allowed。When writing letters, students need to adjust the language style according to the identity of the recipient。In contrast, IELTS essay focuses more on students' ability of data analysis and logical reasoning。

Strategies to improve your writing skills:

- ** Accumulation of vocabulary and grammar ** : Mastering rich vocabulary and grammar rules is the basis for improving writing ability。

- ** Hierarchical training ** : Start with simple sentences and gradually transition to complex sentence patterns to increase the diversity and depth of writing。

- ** Continuous writing Practice ** : Practice writing regularly and improve writing by reading good works and correcting essays。

2. Differences in listening

Although students who use English as the language of instruction may find the listening part relatively easy, the IGCSE listening part is more difficult than the IELTS, mainly because IGCSE includes questions that are directly answered, while the IELTS listening part is mainly selection and filling in the blanks。

Ways to improve listening:

- ** Practice in stages ** : Listening practice should include the whole process of predicting before listening, focusing on the key points during listening and sorting out the answers after listening。

- ** Make the most of repetitions ** : IGCSE listening offers two playback opportunities to deepen understanding and confirm answers。

3. Reading and speaking

Ielts reading is more challenging than IGCSE, requiring students to deal with longer texts and richer question types。For oral English, both tests use face-to-face communication, emphasizing students' ability to express themselves impromptu。

Finally, the summary is as follows:

While the IGCSE English exam may seem more manageable than IELTS in some ways, each exam has its own unique challenges and requirements。Students should be fully aware of the degree to which their target school recognises IGCSE results, including EFL or ESL, and whether an examination authority is designated, so as to make reasonable preparations。
